To fulfil the nation’s increasing need, the government today approved separate bids for the purchase of 30,000 metric tonnes of MOP fertiliser and two cargos of LNG.
The approvals came from the ninth virtual meeting of this year’s Advisers’ Council Committee on Government Procurement, which was chaired by Finance Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
According to Cabinet Division officials, Petrobangla will purchase one cargo LNG from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Limited, Switzerland, through an international quotation process for approximately Taka 657.61 crore, with each MMBtu LNG costing $13.94, in response to two distinct proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
In a different plan, Petrobangla would pay about Taka 640.15 crore to M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Limited, Switzerland, for one cargo of LNG using the DPM method; the cost of LNG per MMBtu would be $13.57.
Additionally, under a state-level agreement, the Ministry of Agriculture’s Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would purchase 30,000 metric tonnes of MOP fertiliser from JSC Foreign Economic Corporation “Prodintorg” for approximately Taka 104.31 crore, with a fertiliser price of $289.75 per tonne.
