Cyclone centres ready as Dana approaches

The local government has prepared 604 shelter centres to house evacuated people for safety as cyclone “Dana” approaches the nation’s coastal regions.

The Khulna Deputy Commissioner chaired an emergency meeting of the Khulna District Disaster Management Committee this afternoon, where the information was disclosed.

All coastal upazilas are experiencing gloomy weather, and rain started this morning due to Cyclone “Dana.”

Rain and windy conditions are expected in Barisal and Chattogram Division, as well as in certain areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensing, and Sylhet Division, according to the Met Office.

The Water Development Board (WDB) has been asked to implement preventive measures along 10–12 kilometres of hazardous embankments in several district upazilas.

There were senior representatives from the relevant departments in attendance.
