Harvey Weinstein diagnosed with bone marrow cancer: US media

Disgraced A month after being charged with a new sex crime, US media claimed Monday that Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein has been diagnosed with a type of bone marrow cancer.

According to reports cited by NBC News and ABC News, Weinstein, 72, is receiving treatment in a New York prison for chronic myeloid leukaemia.

The once-dominant Hollywood mogul’s diagnosis follows a series of health problems; at a brief court appearance in September, he looked pale and obviously sick.

Last month, he had emergency heart surgery, and his representative declared him “out of danger at the moment.”

Weinstein was found guilty of rape in California and is currently serving a 16-year prison term.

In 2020, he was also found guilty in New York of forcing oral sex on a production assistant and raping and sexually assaulting an actress.

In that case, he received a term of 23 years in prison.

A turning point for women combating sexual misconduct, the #MeToo movement began in 2017 as a result of allegations against Weinstein.

More than 80 women, including well-known stars Ashley Judd, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie, accused him of rape, sexual assault, or harassment.
