Md Touhid Hossain, the adviser on foreign affairs, is scheduled to leave Dhaka tonight for Samoa in order to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) that will take place there.
He is scheduled to depart Dhaka at midnight on a Singapore Airlines flight, with a stopover in New Zealand prior to his arrival in Samoa, an official from the foreign ministry verified BSS this evening.
The 2024 CHOGM will take place in Apia, Samoa, from October 21 to October 26. This will be the first time a Pacific Small Island Developing State has hosted the summit.
The foreign adviser is anticipated to meet in private with his counterparts from other Commonwealth countries on the fringes of the conference. Hossain informed the media on Thursday that he has already met with officials from Pakistan and India, thus no meetings with them are scheduled at this time.
As the chief advisor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus,’s representative for Bangladesh at the summit will be the foreign adviser.
Leaders and delegates from 56 member states in Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific come together for CHOGM.Enhancing multilateral collaboration, looking into new avenues, and tackling shared difficulties are the main goals of the summit in order to create a brighter future for the coming generation.
