EU chief says Israeli fire on UN peacekeeper base ‘not acceptable’

After peacekeepers claimed that Israeli forces had opened fire on their headquarters in south Lebanon, EU chief Charles Michel denounced attacks on UN peace operations on Friday.

The president of the European Council told AFP on the fringes of a Southeast Asian conference in Laos that “an attack against a UN peace mission is not responsible, is not acceptable, and that’s why we call on Israel and we call on all sides to fully respect international humanitarian law.”
