IOM reaffirms commitment to support Rohingya repatriation

Today, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reiterated its pledge to assist in the Rohingyas’ return to Myanmar.

The pledge was made during a goodbye visit to Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain at the foreign ministry here by IOM Bangladesh Chief of Mission Abdusattor Esoev.

The foreign adviser stressed at the discussion the importance of IOM’s ongoing aggressive efforts to defend the rights of Bangladeshi migrant workers in transit and destination nations.

Hossain emphasized the necessity of their safe and honorable return to Myanmar and expressed gratitude for IOM’s help of the Rohingyas, who are Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) in Cox’ Bazar.

Thanking Esoev for his active and engaging time in Bangladesh, the Foreign Adviser also commended IOM’s unwavering support in helping citizens in irregular situations or humanitarian disasters return home and reintegrate.

As a supporter of the Global Compact on Migration (GCM), the IOM chief of mission expressed satisfaction with his time in Bangladesh and praised the nation’s initiatives to encourage safe, orderly, and regular migration.

According to a news release, earlier in his farewell engagements, Esoev also had a meeting with the Foreign Secretary.
