UK High Commission welcomes 23 Chevening Scholars

During an online ceremony last week, the British High Commission in Dhaka welcomed the newest class of Chevening Scholars.

For the 2024–2025 academic year, a total of 23 young professionals from Bangladesh have been awarded the coveted scholarships.

The British High Commission sent a press release here today stating that they will shortly depart Bangladesh to start their one-year master’s degrees at some of the most prominent universities in the UK.

“When they return home after their studies in the UK, they will be well-equipped to be leaders in their fields here in Bangladesh,” said British Charge d’affaires James Goldman on the occasion.

With funding from partner organizations and the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), the UK government offers global scholarships through the Chevening Scholarship program.
The scholarships fund one-year taught master’s degrees at UK universities for people who have the ability to lead, make decisions, and shape opinions in the future.

Since its founding in 1983, Chevening has grown to become a prominent global awards program. Worldwide, Chevening Scholars are drawn from more than 160 nations and territories.

More than 8,000 scholarships have been given out by Chevening during the last five years. There are more than 57,000 Chevening Alumni worldwide, making up a significant and well-respected worldwide network.
