Chief Adviser will only allow a less than weeklong UNGA visit

Foreign Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain announced here today that Chief Adviser (CA) Muhammad Yunus will head a small team to the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York with the intention of staying there for less than a week.

“He will aim to complete his tasks as quickly as possible, so the visit, including travel time, won’t exceed a week,” Touhid told reporters at the foreign ministry this afternoon.

The advisor pointed out that the Chief Adviser will only be accompanied by those who hold direct responsibility at the UNGA. He did point out that the precise times and length of the visit had not yet been decided.

The Foreign Affairs Adviser said on Sunday that Prof. Yunus would attend a select few meetings outside the general assembly while he is in New York.

He further mentioned that the chief adviser is anticipated to be present at a reception commemorating Bangladesh’s 50-year relationship with the UN during the visit.
