Türkiye provides aid to flood-hit Bangladesh

The Turkish overseas relief organization, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), has stepped in to offer emergency support in response to the disastrous floods that have hit Bangladesh’s central, eastern, and southeast regions.

As part of its humanitarian efforts, Turkey’s state-run agency sent 500 relief packages to Bangladesh’s Department of Fire Service and Civil Defense, expressing solidarity with the affected populations, according to a news release issued here today.

On behalf of its Director General, Brigadier General Md. Main Uddin, TIKA country Coordinator Sevki Mert Baris delivered the relief supplies to Fire Service and Civil Defence Chattogram Division Deputy Director Dinmoni Sharma at Maijdi fire service station-Noakhali on Wednesday, the statement reads.

TIKA was founded in 1992, and with the opening of the Dhaka Programme Coordination Office in 2014, the organization began its adventure in Bangladesh. In addition, TIKA’s programs in Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives are managed by this office.

As many as 5,480,463 people have been affected by the flood in 492 unions and municipalities under 68 upazilas in 11 districts, according to the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry.
