The S Alam Group’s proposal to build Eastern Refinery Limited (ERL) Unit-2 was canceled today by the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources.
A government news statement states that the decision has been made to scrap Eastern Refinery Limited’s (ERL) proposed project to place ERL Unit-2 under Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).
It stated that the implementation plan was submitted in accordance with a Public Private Joint Venture contract between S Alam Group and BPC/ERL.
The ministry also decided to send a letter to the BPC requesting an estimate of the project’s implementation costs based on the most recent foreign exchange rate, as stated in the DPP (Detail Project Proposal).
