Indonesia holds 1st cabinet meeting in new capital

On Monday, the Indonesian government convened its inaugural plenary cabinet meeting in Nusantara, the nation’s new capital located in the East Kalimantan province.

Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and all of the ministers attended the meeting, which was chaired by President Joko Widodo and took place in the Garuda Palace. According to reports, the discussion centered on the assessment of the present administration and the plans for the upcoming year, including the handover to the incoming administration.

This next Saturday, the multibillion-dollar megaproject Nusantara will host the Independence Day celebration.

President Widodo, whose tenure expires in October this year, will be accompanied by Prabowo Subianto, the victor of the February presidential election. The vice president-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the oldest son of Widodo, is expected to attend the Ma’ruf Amin-led ceremony in Jakarta.
