Today saw the inauguration of two more advisors to the 17-member Council of Advisers of the Interim Government, which is chaired by Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

At the Bangabhaban’s Darbar Hall, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus observed President Mohammed Shahabuddin administering the oath of office.

The two advisors taking the oath of office today are Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, a former director of the National Institute of Mental Health, and Suprodip Chakma, a former ambassador and chairman of the Chattogram Hill Tracts Development Board.

Earlier on Thursday, 13 out of the 17 members of the interim government’s advisers’ council took an oath of office.

Bir Pratik, another advising Navy Commando and heroic Freedom Fighter Farooq-e Azam, was already outside the capital and was unable to take an oath.

The just sworn-in advisers’ roles, however, will be made public later, according to a cabinet division official.

Md. Mahbub Hossain, Cabinet Secretary, oversaw the swearing-in event.

The two advisors signed the oath of secrecy following the oath-taking ceremony.
