This morning, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of the recently established interim government, and thirteen other advisers laid wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar in honor of the language movement’s martyrs.
Dr. Yunus first laid the wreath at 11:15 am in the light rain and spent some time standing in sad silence here as a sign of sincere respect to the memory of the Language Movement martyrs.
The advisors of the recently established provisional administration also laid wreaths in memory of the language movement martyrs.
After placing the wreath, Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed, also former governor of Bangladesh Bank said, “After ensuring the law and order situation is stable, we will be working to recover the financial damages with focus on developing people livelihood”. “The discriminatory government system has collapsed amid the students’ movement. As per the commitments with the students, we will reform the whole system with the sentiment of students”, said Adviser Nahid Islam from students’ representatives.
The Chief Adviser to the interim administration, along with thirteen other experts, honored the Liberation War dead by laying wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar earlier today.
For a while, they observed a moment of sad silence in remembrance of the martyrs of the 1971 War of Liberation.
