Moscow says to block access to AFP website in Russia

Russia announced on Tuesday that, in “retaliatory” action against European limitations on Russian media outlets, it will prohibit access to the AFP homepage and client portal within its borders.

The 81 media outlets on the list that Russia’s foreign ministry announced will be blocked included the AFP websites afp.com and afpforum.com.

As a “retaliatory measure,” Russia announced on Tuesday that it will restrict access to 81 EU media outlets, including the websites of AFP, after broadcasting prohibitions imposed by Brussels on a number of Russian official media outlets.

In May, the European Union announced that it had chosen to obstruct access to four media outlets under Kremlin control because they were “instrumental in bringing forward and supporting” Moscow’s offensive in Ukraine. Moscow declared that it was reacting to that action.
