Russia says it neutralized 114 Ukrainian drones overnight, one dead

At least one person was killed in the drone attacks, which Russia neutralized overnight, according to officials on Friday. The drones had been fired by Ukraine.

“Russian anti-aerial defence systems intercepted and destroyed 70 drones over Crimea and the Black Sea, 43 drones over the Krasnodar region and one drone over Volgograd,” the defence ministry said in a statement.

Regional Governor Venyamin Kondratyev posted on Telegram that a drone struck a heating station employee in Krasnodar, killing him. The station was located close to the Yuzhny rail station.

According to him, damage was also done to a number of administrative buildings at an oil refinery in the Severski district.

After fighting a Russian invasion for almost two years, Ukraine has increased its strikes on Russian territory in recent months, focusing on energy sites.

The country’s ability to generate electricity has been severely damaged by Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, forcing Kiev to implement rolling blackouts and import electricity from the European Union.
