Presenters at a discussion today emphasized the need of maintaining good governance in order to meet the nation’s development objectives.
They mentioned this at the ‘CPD Budget Dialogue 2024’ that was held in a city hotel.
Special guests included M. A. Mannan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Planning; Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology; and Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Bangladesh Parliament.
Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman, Executive Chairman, Power and Participation Research Centre (PPRC) and Rasheda K Choudhury, Executive Director, CAMPE, attended as guests of honour.
President of the Socialist Labour Front and Dewan is Razequzzaman Ratan. Hanif Mahmud, Editor of Banik Barta, participated in the discussion as a notable speaker.
The meeting was presided over by Syed Manzur Elahi, treasurer of the CPD Board of Trustees and a former advisor to the caretaker government.
The keynote speaker was CPD Executive Director Dr. Fahmida Khatun.
Syed Manzur Elahi stated in his address that issues with income and expenses are present in various areas.
If sound governance is in place, around 90% of the issues will be resolved, he continued.
