Bangladesh welcomes AI but to take steps for preventing misuse: PM

Bangladesh supports artificial intelligence (AI), but Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stressed today that precautions will be taken to prevent misuse.

“We welcome AI, but we have to take some protection measures by enacting laws for preventing its misuses,” she said.

The prime minister made these remarks during a visit by Archbishop Kevin S. Randall, the Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See to Bangladesh, at her official house in Ganabhaban.

Speech by the Prime Minister Following the meeting, journalist M Nazrul Islam briefed the reporters.

According to the prime minister, Bangladesh is a nation of religious harmony, with peaceful coexistence of Muslims, Hindus, Christians, and Buddhists. “We celebrate our festivals all together,” she continued.

Through Archbishop Kevin S. Randall, Sheikh Hasina extended an invitation to the Pope to visit Bangladesh as well.

Regarding the Rohingya issue and climate change, Archbishop Randall was pleased with Bangladesh’s position and actions.

Mohammad Salahuddin, the PMO secretary, attended the meeting.
