In the Chattogram BAF aircraft crash, a squadron leader lost his life

A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed in the Karnaphuli River near Chattogram on Thursday morning, killing the squadron leader. A second wounded pilot is receiving medical attention at the hospital.

The two pilots used their parachutes to escape the burning aircraft, according to Prothom Alo, who was speaking with Officer in Charge Kabirul Islam of the Patenga Police Station. After being pulled out of the Karnaphuli River, they were brought to the BNS Patenga Hospital. Asim Jawad, the squadron leader, passed away while receiving treatment there at about noon. Wing commander Suhan is receiving medical attention at the Zahurul Haque base medical squadron.

The squadron leader was killed when a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed on Thursday morning in the Karnaphuli River close to Chattogram. At the hospital, medical care is being given to a second injured pilot.

Speaking with Officer in Charge Kabirul Islam of the Patenga Police Station, Prothom Alo stated that the two pilots utilized their parachutes to escape the flaming aircraft. They were taken to the BNS Patenga Hospital after being extracted from the Karnaphuli River. It was around midday when the squadron leader, Asim Jawad, passed away in the hospital. At the Zahurul Haque base medical squadron, wing commander Suhan is undergoing medical treatment.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), technical issues caused the BAF’s YAK 130 training aircraft to crash at Patenga.

Omar Faruque, secretary of Chittagong Port, stated that an airplane retrieval drive is taking place in the Karnaphuli River.

He informed Prothom Alo that the rescue effort is being carried out by Air Force and Navy troops.

According to Omar Faruque, the accident is not impeding port operations.
