US agrees to pull troops from key drone host Niger: officials

According to officials, the US reversed course and agreed to withdraw its more than 1,000 personnel from Niger, which has been a longstanding host of drones in Africa.

According to US sources who spoke to AFP under condition of anonymity, deputy secretary of state Kurt Campbell agreed to withdraw troops during a meeting with the prime minister of the junta that overthrew the elected government last year in Washington.
