The most severe warning in its three-tier warning system, the orange alert, was issued again by China’s meteorological officials on Monday for a cold wave. The signal foresees reductions in temperature across the majority of the nation.
The National Meteorological Center (NMC) predicts that most of China would experience a temperature decrease of 8 to 12 degrees Celsius from Monday to Thursday.
Temperatures in northeastern China, including parts of Guizhou Province and Hunan Province, may drop by more than 20 degrees Celsius.
The NMC has urged the public to stay warm, urged local governments to take preventative measures against the cold, and demanded that required steps be taken to safeguard crops and aquatic products.
Regarding cold waves, China has a three-tiered, color-coded weather warning system. Orange weather is the most severe, followed by yellow and blue.
