The President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan, emphasized the need of branding Bangladesh in order to draw in foreign investment and strengthen the nation’s standing internationally.
During a business conference hosted by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the Ministry of Commerce, Faruque Hassan emphasized the importance of nation branding in advancing the nation’s efforts to achieve continued growth.
Ahasanul Islam (Titu) MP, State Minister for Commerce; Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary of the Commerce Ministry; A. H. M. Ahsan, Vice Chairman of EPB; and Abdul Muktadir, Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceuticals Industries, also addressed the seminar titled “Branding Bangladesh” held at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Dhaka today.
In his speech, Faruque said Bangladesh has proudly secured its position as the second-largest apparel exporting country globally, with garments from the country reaching over 160 countries, said a press release.
He emphasized the need for strengthening this position through effective nation branding, stating that it is time for Bangladesh to be recognized not just as a manufacturer but as a brand of its own.
According to Faruque Hassan, “Our focus on apparel diplomacy includes efforts to tell the positive story of our industry and its transformation.” Dispelling myths and prejudiced impressions about the RMG business is BGMEA’s primary objective.
He continued, “We have taken initiatives such as the first-ever Made in Bangladesh Week in 2022, and the Bangladesh Apparel Summit in Melbourne last year to showcase positive developments of our industry along with its strengths.”
In order to improve the international perception of Bangladesh, the President of the BGMEA invited everyone to share the hidden tales of the nation’s accomplishments in their individual capacities.
He emphasized that in order to update the country’s worldwide standing, a deliberate effort must be made to accurately represent the country and its industries, particularly the RMG sector.
There were ambassadors in attendance from a number of nations, including Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.
