The president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan, has stressed how important it is for the media to change how the world views Bangladesh’s garment sector.
According to a press club, he made the statement today in the capital during a meeting with Farida Yasmin, President of the Jatiya Press Club.
Faruque Hassan expressed gratitude to the media for its important contributions to Bangladesh’s garment industry, especially for helping to project a favorable image both domestically and globally.
He also acknowledged the media’s influence in dispelling myths and showcasing the industry’s achievements and positive stories to the world.
During the meeting, the BGMEA president highlighted the remarkable progress made by the garment industry in important areas such as workplace safety, environmental sustainability, and workers’ rights and well-being.
Bangladesh has earned global accolades, positioning itself as one of the safest and greenest apparel sourcing destinations worldwide, he remarked.
According to Hassan, despite the industry’s revolutionary socioeconomic effects on Bangladesh, there were a lot of unsung success stories and inaccurate information that occasionally painted the sector in an unfavorable light.
Additionally, Faruque urged the media to work with the industry to dispel these myths by highlighting its accomplishments and future potential for growth.
He underlined the importance of giving a more accurate and thorough image of Bangladesh’s apparel industry.
Faruque also extended an invitation to Farida Yasmin and National Press Club members to tour BGMEA, exploring its initiatives in R&D, circularity, sustainability, market promotion, and design development, contributing to the advancement of the RMG industry.
