Dengue has claimed eight more lives in the twenty-four hours leading up to Monday morning, bringing the total number of deaths in Bangladesh this year from the mosquito-borne illness to 1,606.
“During the period, 920 more patients were hospitalized with the viral fever,” states the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Hospitals throughout the nation are currently treating 3,493 dengue cases, including 1,011 in the capital.
309,087 dengue cases and 303,988 recoveries have been reported to the DGHS so far this year.
Based on DGHS data, September has been the deadliest month for the dengue outbreak so far this year, with 396 deaths and 79,598 cases.
