A warning was released today by India advising its citizens to stay away from “non-essential” travel to Myanmar because of the country’s worsening security conditions.
Additionally, it urged its citizens who were already residing in Myanmar to exercise caution and stay away from areas of the nation that were experiencing unrest.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) sent an alert this evening advising against driving beyond state lines. The warning was released in light of Myanmar’s changing security circumstances.
However, the Indian nationals living in Myanmar are also requested to be registered themselves with the Embassy of India, Yangon, the advisory said.
The pro-democracy rebels and ethnic minority groups in Myanmar are mounting a significant onslaught against the ruling military of the country.
A coalition of ethnic minority groups has launched coordinated operations against the military in various regions, particularly the northern part of the country, taking control of many military stations.
