On the eve of the 48-hour nationwide blockade declared by the BNP and other opposition parties, a total of 181 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed around the nation.
The BGB’s public relations officer, Md Shariful Islam, verified the information to Jago News on Wednesday morning.
He said that in order to uphold law and order, a total of 181 BGB platoons have been sent out around the nation. To protect security at clothing industries, 33 platoons have been stationed in Dhaka and the surrounding areas.
The BNP made the announcement of the 48-hour nationwide blockage earlier on Monday in an effort to emphasize their one-point demand that the next general election be held with a neutral government.
Following the BNP, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and other political groupings declared that they will hold their own blockade program concurrently.
