Today, “Kalabati Saree” and other items produced from the fiber of the banana plant were presented to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
According to a press statement from the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, Yasmin Parveen Tibriji, the deputy commissioner of the Bandarban district, presented the prime minister with three sarees and two jewelry boxes made from the fiber of the banana plant.
The three sarees given to the Prime Minister were manufactured by Anjali Devi, Dutta Singh, and Tant designer Radhabati Devi of Moulavibazar district and were made from the fiber of the banana tree for the first time in the history of the nation.
The Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban also gave the Prime Minister a model of a special “machang house” for a hilly area’s residential shelter, a district brand calendar, and a brand book.
