BBC suspends presenter accused of paying teen for explicit images

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has suspended a prominent presenter accused of paying a minor girl for sexually explicit images, after senior British MPs urged the network to conduct an immediate investigation into the allegations.

The public broadcaster is under fire after The Sun newspaper claimed on Sunday that the male presenter paid an anonymous kid, who was 17 at the time, 35,000 pounds ($45,000) for the images beginning in 2020.

The identity of the accused presenter, who has yet to be disclosed, sparked speculation on social media, and several of the BBC’s most well-known faces distanced themselves from the subject.

Although the legal age of sexual consent in the United Kingdom is 16, it is a criminal to create or possess indecent photos of anyone under the age of 18.

According to The Sun, the teenager’s family complained to the station on May 19, but the presenter was not immediately removed from the air, despite the fact that the family had not demanded remuneration for their story.

According to the news story, the family requested that the guy stop providing money since their relative was using it to fuel a crack cocaine addiction.
