In appreciation for their support of the Argentina football team during the recently finished Qatar World Cup, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh were thanked by Argentina President Alberto Fernandez.
The Bangladeshi prime minister had written to Argentina on December 19 to congratulate them on their third World Cup victory in football. On December 20, the Argentine president responded to her letter with a tweet on his official account.
“Thank you Sheikh Hasina and the entire people of Bangladesh. The union and mutual affection that we have seen in recent weeks has become inexplicable, and today both flags are flying here as well. Let’s deepen this link,” president Fernandez wrote in the post.
Earlier, the shared affection for the Argentina football team helped the people of Argentina and Bangladesh develop a special friendship throughout the Qatar World Cup.

When they saw pictures and videos showing how well-supported their football team is thousands of miles away in Bangladesh, Argentinians were astounded and overwhelmed.
Some Argentinians even started fan pages on various social media sites to support Bangladesh in cricket, a sport they know very little to nothing about, in an effort to demonstrate their support.
