The government and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will keep cooperating to improve the electricity and energy industry in Bangladesh.
JICA Executive Senior Vice-President YAMADA Junichi stated today that the organization “wants to continue to work for improving the capacity of Bangladesh power and energy sector and establishing the integrated Maheshkhali-Matarbari energy transition infrastructure.”
According to a news statement, YAMADA Junichi provided the guarantee during a visit from State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid to the JICA headquarters in Japan.
The head of JICA placed emphasis on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the capabilities of the Bangladesh Power Management Institute. He also gave the state minister the assurance that JICA will stand by Bangladesh with financial and technical support for the country’s technological advancement in the areas of power and energy, energy transmission, and distribution.
As the importance of renewable energy grows globally, Nasrul Hamid thanked JICA for its ongoing financial and technical support for Bangladesh’s energy and power sector and noted that Japan is a tried and true friend of Bangladesh. He added that there is more room for cooperation in the field of marine energy.
He asked Japan for help creating a wealthy Bangladesh by 2041 as the current administration had intended.
