EU members strike deal to cut Russian gas use

The European Union member states reached agreement on Tuesday on how to cut their consumption of gas by 15 percent and reduce their dependence on Russian supplies.

“This was not a Mission Impossible!” the EU presidency, currently held by the Czech Republic, tweeted.

As Kiev accuses Moscow’s military of conducting several airstrikes against targets along the Black Sea coast, the EU comes to a consensus on how to lessen member states’ reliance on Russian gas supply.

“Ministers have reached a political agreement on gas demand reduction ahead of the upcoming winter.”

The member states of the European Union have agreed on a plan to reduce their reliance on Russian supply and cut their gas usage by 15%.
