Germany signs energy deal with Qatar

Due to the ongoing issue with Russia, Germany has inked an energy agreement with Qatar this time.

On Sunday, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding (March 20). The signing event was attended by Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Germany’s Finance Minister Robert Habek. Qatar will deliver fuel to Germany in the long run, according to the agreement. The agreement aims to reduce Russia’s energy dependence.

Western countries, including Germany, have previously placed sanctions on Russia as a result of its actions in Ukraine. As a result, several European countries, including Germany, experienced a gas shortage.

Russia, by the way, supplies approximately half of Germany’s total gas.
