Ukraine says Russian troops ‘reduced pace of offensive’

The Ukrainian military said on Monday that Russian troops had slowed down “the pace of the offensive”, as Moscow’s assault against Ukraine went into its fifth day.

“The Russian occupiers have reduced the pace of the offensive, but are still trying to develop success in some areas,” the general staff of the armed forces said.

As Moscow’s assault on Ukraine entered its fifth day, the Ukrainian military announced on Monday that Russian troops had paused their offensive.

“The Russian occupiers have slowed their onslaught, but they are still striving to achieve success in some regions,” the army’s general staff said.

On Thursday, Russia invaded Ukraine, sending shockwaves around the world. Ukraine’s military, aided by Western weapons, has slowed the Russian army’s advance.

The Ukrainian military also accused Russia of attacking residential buildings in the cities of Zhytomyr and Chernigiv, which are located in the country’s northwest and north, respectively.
