As catastrophic weather patterns startle the world, about 13,000 researchers have called for immediate action to slow down the climate emergency. They cited three key indicators.
In an article published Wednesday in the journal BioScience, thousands of experts reaffirmed their pleas for quick action on the climate catastrophe.
“The extreme climate events and patterns we’ve seen over the last several years — let alone the last few weeks — highlight the heightened urgency with which we must address the climate crisis,” said Philip Duffy, co-author of the study and executive director of the Woodwell Climate Research Center in Massachusetts.
More than 10,000 scientists from 150 countries declared a global climate emergency two years ago. Over 2,800 more people have signed the petition advocating the conservation of life on Earth.
According to academics, Earth has seen a “unprecedented rise” in climate-related calamities since the announcement in 2019.
