After reportedly posting a paparazzi shot of herself on Instagram, Dua Lipa is being sued.
According to lawsuit documents filed in the United States, the actress was seen queuing at an airport in February 2019 and then shared the photo with her fans “without permission or authorization.”
Lipa profited from the shot, according to Integral Images, because her Instagram feed serves as a marketing tool for her songs.
It is seeking damages of $150,000 (£108,000) and has requested a jury trial.
The corporation is also seeking an injunction barring the artist from committing any further acts of infringement, as well as legal fees.
Lipa shared the photo on her Instagram account four days after it was taken, on February 7, 2019.
The now-deleted photo showed the actress waiting in line while wearing a big hat and clutching her airline ticket and passport.
She said in the caption, “I’ll be living under big fluffy hats until further notice,”
Integral Images had applied to register copyright for the images, and the request was granted on 20 February 2021 – after Lipa’s Instagram post – according to records from the US Copyright Office.
