Malaysia is planning to reopen all sectors by December this year, said Prime Minister Tansri Muhiuddin Yasin. He announced at 5 pm local time on Tuesday (June 15) while announcing the national recovery plan.
The Prime Minister said the government would deal with Corona in four stages. The last step will be to re-launch all sectors of the country. In that case, essential sectors will be given priority. Domestic tourism is one of them. But the whole thing depends on a strict lockdown. Strict lockdowns continue as infection rates rise. The lockdown will be revoked once the infection situation is normal.
He said it was hoped that most citizens would have developed hard immunity by the end of this year. Then we can move on to the next stage. Based on science and information, we have determined four stages. Where three issues have been given special importance. The first is the daily infection rate, the second is the capacity of the health sector (relevant infrastructure and equipment including hospital beds, ICU beds) and the latest information on how many citizens we have been able to vaccinate.
Before addressing the nation, the Prime Minister met with Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shahed at the Yang de-Partuan Agong Palace at 2 pm and discussed the recovery for about an hour. Last week, Sultan Abdullah met with leaders of 15 political parties to discuss the state of emergency and measures to deal with the Kovid 19 epidemic.
Sultan Abdullah is scheduled to chair another special meeting with Malay rulers on Wednesday, June 18.
