Five people have been stabbed to death at a childcare center in the small Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. The incident took place around 10:30 am local time on Tuesday (May 4).
The dead included three children and two school workers. The state has declared three days of mourning over the incident.
A 17-year-old man carried out the attack, BBC News reported. It was not immediately clear what prompted the attack. He stabbed himself after the attack. He is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Her condition is critical.
The city is home to nine thousand people. According to Globo News, children under the age of three are cared for at the nursery.
