Michael Collins, one of the successful astronauts to the moon in 1989, has died. He was 90 years old at the time of his death. News from the BBC.
He took part in the first manned space mission Apollo 11. He was accompanied by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the mission to the moon. Collins was the command module pilot of the lunar mission.
On Wednesday (April 28), his family tweeted that he had died after a long battle with cancer. He died peacefully. Family members were by his side at the time of his death. He faced all the adversities of life with concentration and sincerity, even in the last days it was intact.
NASA Administrator Steve Zurich said in a statement that NASA is deeply saddened by the departure of a great pilot and astronaut. He was a friend who always encouraged people’s progress.
Michael Collins was born in 1930 in Italy. Her father served in the United States Army. Collins graduated from the U.S. Military Academy. He then joined the Air Force. In 1963, NASA hired him as a pilot.
