Thailand is building one of the largest floating solar panels in the world. It is being built across a huge reservoir of 300 acres.
It is being built as part of the country’s master plan to generate renewable energy by reducing dependence on fossil fuels. More than 144,000 units of solar panels have been installed on water in Uban Ratchathani province.
Authorities expect the massive work to be completed by June. This solar panel will generate 2,625 MW of electricity when it is launched.
The Thai government plans to install solar panels in at least eight more dams in the next 18 years. Thailand has been dependent on coal for power generation for many years.
However, environmentalists claim that any new coal power project would pose a serious risk.
