Corona vaccination program started in Japan

Finally, Japan has started the corona vaccination program. On Monday, for the first time, vaccination arrangements were made for the general public on government initiative.

Only people over the age of 65 are vaccinated in the first stage. Tokyo aims to vaccinate 3.5 million people by June.

Japan was the last of the industrialized countries to start mass immunization. In many western countries, the corona vaccination program has been going on for about four months now. One-third of Americans and half of UK citizens have already been vaccinated.

The Japanese government has been criticized for delaying the start of vaccinations. The country has so far only approved Pfizer-Bioentech vaccines. Although the general public has been vaccinated since today, Japan has started vaccinating health workers from February. So far, 11 lakh health workers have received the corona vaccine.
