Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has reiterated that he has no intention of announcing a lockdown in the country.
He made the remarks at a time when the country had the highest number of coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours.
3,829 people died of corona in the South American country on Wednesday (April 7). The previous day this number was 4,195 people.
In a speech in the city of Chapeco, Bolsonaro said, “We cannot accept the politics of ‘staying home’ and ‘keeping everything closed.’
Although the pressure on him to deal with Corona continues to grow, the former army officer said no lockdown would be announced in the country.
He has been suspicious of Corona since the beginning of the epidemic and has regularly ignored the threat of the virus.
Despite public health experts urging tougher sanctions to tackle the crisis, the Brazilian president is ignoring everything.
