The pro-Kurdish political party HDP is going to be banned in Turkey. A pro-government prosecutor has filed a complaint with the Supreme Court alleging collusion with the rebel group PKK. Which is clearly denied by Turkey’s third-highest opposition party.
According to HDP, the case is a major threat to democracy and Turkish law. At the same time, the party called on the democratic forces of the country, the opposition political parties, and the general public to stand up against the attempts of political coup d’etat.
Many HDP activists have been targeted by those in power since last year. Even some of the top leaders are serving prison sentences.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly accused the HDP, a political party of the banned armed group PKK.
