“We can clearly see that the third wave of the corona has already started in Germany,” Lothar Wheeler, director of the Robert Koch Institute in Germany, told the UN news agency in Geneva.

Lothar Villar made the remarks as 24,357 people were diagnosed with the virus in Germany in one day this week. With this, the number of daily infections in Germany increased by 400 in a week. The infection rate has also increased from 75.4 lakh to 69.1 this week.

Coronavirus infections are on the rise in several other European countries. The Italian government has decided to tighten the lockdown again to prevent infection. Lockdown has been most severe, especially in areas where 250 out of 100,000 people have been infected.
