The coronavirus vaccine will be available in India from August 15. The drug, Covaxin, is being jointly developed by ICMR, Bharat Biotech International Limited, and the National Institute of Virology, Pune.
The experimental use of this vaccine in the human body will start from July 6, and its clinical trial will continue for the entire month of July. The vaccine will be available in India on August 15, ICMR said.
Earlier, on June 30, the coronavirus vaccine allowed testing in the human body. Hundreds of vaccines are being tested around the world to prevent the deadly coronavirus. So far, human trials of 12 vaccines are underway.
ICMR added that the institutions addressed in the letter, “ are strictly advised to fast track all approvals related to the initiation of the clinical trial and ensure that the subject enrollment is initiated no later than 7th July 2020.”
