President Donald Trump said on Friday he is going to end the US relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO). He said the agency had failed to prevent the initial spread of the coronavirus. Reports AFP.
A month ago, Trump first suspended funding to the World Health Organization, accusing it of mismanagement in controlling the global epidemic.
Just 10 days ago, he described Geneva-based Hu as a “puppet” in China, saying it would permanently cut off funding if it did not make “massive improvements” in dealing with the coronavirus.
Trump told reporters, ‘Because they have failed to make the requested and much-needed reforms. Therefore, we will sever our relationship with the World Health Organization today.’
The Republican leader said the United States would change the source of funding already allocated to the WHO and spend it on other world public health services that are in urgent need.
“The world needs to know China’s response to the rapid spread of the corona virus,” Trump said.
