Beximco plans to produce Mask-PPE items in Michigan

Bangladesh’s Beximco Group plans to set up a mask and personal protective equipment plant in Detroit, Michigan. This information has been reported in the Bloomberg report.

Beximco has already signed a strategic agreement with Chicago-based Zest Designs. Both companies are exploring the possibility of setting up a PPE manufacturing plant in Detroit with the help of local government and city authorities.

Detroit City Mayor Mike Dugan welcomed the initiative, saying Detroit residents are hardworking and eager to learn new skills. This is a perfect place to work.

Earlier, 65 lakh personal protective equipment (PPE) made by Beximco was exported to the United States. The first shipment of the PPE gown left for the country on May 25 on an Emirates flight.

Syed Naveed Hossain, chief executive officer of Beximco’s textile division and director of the group, said his company would invest 20 million in a Detroit plant to make masks and personal protective equipment. The plant will be ready in the next nine months. PPE Industrial Park is also being set up in Bangladesh. 30 million will be invested there.
