Bangladesh Govt deliberately easing shutdown to help people

Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina announced her government is gradually relaxing the nationwide shutdown so that the people can manage ‘their lives and livelihoods’ in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Government is trying to open everything slowly so that the people can manage their lives and livelihoods in the holy month of Ramadan,” she said while joining a donation handing over ceremony online.

PM’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus has accepted the donations cheques on behalf of the premier.

Sheikh Hasina stated many citizens of Bangladesh, especially the people who used to earn on a daily wage basis, have become jobless because of the COVID-19 shutdown. This has put a great impact on the nation’s economy.

Sheikh Hasina reiterated her request to all to abide by ‘stay-at-home’ and social distancing policies following the guidelines of the health directorate and the World Health Organisation (WHO) to stop transmission of COVID-19.

The primer expressed her hope that the vaccine of the disease would be invented soon as the researches on it are going on in many parts of the world.
