Tesla Inc has applied for a licence to provide electricity within the UK, according to a report by The Telegraph.
The objective of the licence from the energy regulator perhaps to inaugurate Tesla’s Autobidder platform, the report said, quoting a corporation source. the application failed to explain why Tesla has applied for the licence, The Telegraph reported.
Autobidder could be a platform for automated energy business and is presently being operated at Tesla’s Hornsdale Power Reserve in South Australia.
Having built a big battery business latterly, Tesla is now preparing to set foot in the United Kingdom market with its technology, the paper said, citing industry sources.
The company didn’t immediately answer to a request for a comment.
In 2017, Tesla built world’s largest lithium ion battery to assist keep the lights on in Australia state.
Tesla shares dropped 9% on Friday after CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the company’s high-flying stock was overly expensive.
