Bangladesh has shipped a small group of Rohingyas, who got the entry in Bangladesh a couple of days ago from Myanmar in a boat to Bhasan Char Island.
Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen verified the news about it saying good amenities are already there for them.
The decision has been taken with the vision to keep existing Rohingya camps free from coronavirus, he stated adding that no Rohingya so far tested positive yet in the Rohingya camps.
Dr Momen stated local people first discovered the Rohingyas coming from Myanmar in small boats. They then notified the Coast Guard officials who later detained the Rohingyas.
The Rohingya group with almost 70 people were sent to Bhasan Char in a coastal ship, Dr Momen responded adding, “There’s a very good facility in place.”
Earlier UNHCR said they got reports about boats with Rohingyas aboard being denied entry to countries in the region.
The Rohingyas are reportedly from those two boats which were floating in deep sea for weeks.
