Invitation for keeping citizens at the forefront through dialogues

On 26th December 2018, JAAGO Foundation and Democracy International has arranged a daylong event for youth of Dhaka district at Emmanuelle’s Banquet Hall following a debate competition and workshop which were conducted for ensuring a peaceful national election in Bangladesh as a part of nationwide “শান্তিতে বিজয়” campaign.

Youth from Dhaka district have identified the challenges in the society they faced and found probable solution for those challenges through a group work and discussions. The findings were presented in front of a distinguished guest panel from civil society and renowned media leaders. The main purpose of this session was to motivate youth to contribute in the national development process positively.

Afterward, the youth arranged a parliamentary debate competition on Dhaka district based main challenges and solutions related to the priority of youth in the upcoming national election of Bangladesh.

Katie Croake, Chief of Party, Democracy International, Aminul Ehsan, Program Director, Democracy International and Korvi Rakshand, Founder and Executive Director, JAAGO Foundation was present. Zafor Sobhan, Chief editor of Dhaka was present as special guests.

Democracy International and JAAGO Foundation believe that politics and peace can go hand in hand only when there is an active participation and engagement of the youth as citizens and responsive governance. The aim was to promote peace as a means for responsible society for the youth of Bangladesh. In future, Democracy International and JAAGO Foundation are keen to work together for the betterment of the country and its youth.
