Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman today said the government will introduce midday meal in all government primary schools across the country by May 31 this year.
“Midday meal will be introduced in all primary schools across the country by May 31 this year,” he said, speaking at a view-exchange meeting with parents and guardians of schools at Pirojpur Gopalkrisno Town Club field here.
He urged all concerned to ensure admission of cent percent eligible children in all primary schools of Pirojpur upazila here.
The primary and mass education minister called upon all mothers to give some food to their kids to carry to schools for lunch to retain the students in the classroom and reduce the dropout rate.
Referring to the number of dropout students, Mustafizur said, “The number of dropout students has come down to 11 percent which was 50 percent during the BNP regime.”
He urged the teachers and others concerned to be affectionate to the students and create a congenial academic atmosphere.
The minister mentioned different successful steps undertaken by the incumbent government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to ensure the quality of education.
The steps include developing infrastructures in rural areas, enhancing the salary of the teachers, nationalizing thousands of educational institutions and providing free books to students.
AKMA Awal, MP, Director (administration) of Directorate of Primary Education Md Saber Hossain, Director (policy) Bijoy Bhuswan Paal, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Pirojpur M Mostafizur Rahman and Additional SP Abul Kalam Azad, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
